The ACA aftercooler platform pairs a removable straight-tube bundle with proven shell-side baffling, and ACA86-92 applies that design to compressed air aftercooling. Hot compressed air enters the tubes while cooling water counterflows through the shell, condensing moisture for removal downstream. Physically, the unit runs a 8-inch shell, 72-inch shell length in a 1-pass arrangement. It carries 1/4-inch O.D. tubes. The build specifies cast iron bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel tubesheets. Operating limits are 300°F maximum temperature. Common applications are compressor discharge aftercooling, pneumatic tool and instrument air conditioning, and moisture and oil removal from plant air. A floating rear tubesheet lets the bundle expand freely and pull for cleaning, and full-size air connections hold pressure drop down.
