A removable straight-tube bundle gives this configuration the thermal and mechanical margin expected of ACA aftercooler equipment in compressed air aftercooling. Hot compressed air enters the tubes while cooling water counterflows through the shell, condensing moisture for removal downstream. Dimensionally it is a 4-inch shell unit, 72-inch shell length in a 1-pass arrangement. It carries 1/4-inch O.D. tubes. The build specifies cast iron bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel tubesheets. On the ratings side, expect 300°F maximum temperature. This build is designated ACA46-16. Typical duty includes compressor discharge aftercooling, moisture and oil removal from plant air, and compressed air dryer pre-cooling. A floating rear tubesheet lets the bundle expand freely and pull for cleaning, and full-size air connections hold pressure drop down.
