A two-pass U-bend bundle gives this configuration the thermal and mechanical margin expected of TCS/TCW tank heater equipment in in-tank heating with boiler water in the tubes. The bundle mounts through a collar in the tank wall and heats the surrounding fluid by natural convection. The configuration measures 12 inches across the shell, 78-inch shell length, and roughly 78-1/4 inches overall in a 2-pass arrangement. That works out to about 137 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. That combination is cataloged as TCW-1278. Standard construction uses cast iron or brass bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel or brass tubesheets. Operating limits are 150 PSI on the shell side, 150 PSI on the tube side, and 375°F maximum temperature.
