Configured for in-tank heating with steam in the tubes, this configuration carries the two-pass U-bend bundle construction that defines the TCS/TCW tank heater range. The bundle mounts through a collar in the tank wall and heats the surrounding fluid by natural convection. Its envelope centers on a 6-inch diameter shell, 48-inch shell length, and roughly 45-1/8 inches overall in a 2-pass arrangement. That works out to about 17.39 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. That combination is cataloged as TCS-648. Standard construction uses cast iron or brass bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel or brass tubesheets. Operating limits are 150 PSI on the shell side, 150 PSI on the tube side, and 375°F maximum temperature.
