A two-pass U-bend bundle gives this configuration the thermal and mechanical margin expected of TCS/TCW tank heater equipment in in-tank heating with steam in the tubes. The bundle mounts through a collar in the tank wall and heats the surrounding fluid by natural convection. The configuration measures 12 inches across the shell, 54-inch shell length, and roughly 54-1/4 inches overall in a 2-pass arrangement. That works out to about 94 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. Standard construction uses cast iron bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel tubesheets. Design ratings run to 150 PSI on the shell side, 150 PSI on the tube side, and 375°F maximum temperature. This build is designated 5-270-12-054-001.
