Built around a removable U-tube bundle, this configuration delivers steam-to-liquid heating for demanding service. Steam condenses in the single-pass shell while the heated fluid travels the tubes. Its envelope centers on a 8-inch diameter shell, 60-inch shell length, and roughly 65-3/8 inches overall in a 6-pass arrangement. That works out to about 33 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. That combination is cataloged as SU85-6. The build specifies cast iron or brass bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel or brass tubesheets. Operating limits are 150 PSI on the shell side, 150 PSI on the tube side, and 375°F maximum temperature. The series sees regular use in instantaneous domestic water heating, building comfort heating, and swimming pool heating.
