Configured for steam-to-liquid heating, this configuration carries the removable U-tube bundle construction that defines the SU/WU range. Steam condenses in the single-pass shell while the heated fluid travels the tubes. Dimensionally it is a 6-inch shell unit, 24-inch shell length, and roughly 28-1/8 inches overall in a 6-pass arrangement. That works out to about 6 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. The build specifies cast iron or brass bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel or brass tubesheets. Design ratings run to 150 PSI on the shell side, 150 PSI on the tube side, and 375°F maximum temperature. The series sees regular use in building comfort heating, instantaneous domestic water heating, and swimming pool heating. This build is designated SU62-6.
