Configured for steam-to-liquid heating, this configuration carries the removable U-tube bundle construction that defines the SU/WU range. Steam condenses in the single-pass shell while the heated fluid travels the tubes. Dimensionally it is a 28-inch shell unit, 84-inch shell length, and roughly 106-1/16 inches overall in a 6-pass arrangement. That works out to about 781 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. That combination is cataloged as SU287-6. As furnished, materials include steel bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel tubesheets. Design ratings run to 150 PSI on the shell side, 150 PSI on the tube side, and 375°F maximum temperature. The series sees regular use in instantaneous domestic water heating, swimming pool heating, and radiant panel and snow-melt converters.
