Configured for steam-to-liquid heating, this configuration carries the removable U-tube bundle construction that defines the SU/WU range. Steam condenses in the single-pass shell while the heated fluid travels the tubes. Dimensionally it is a 24-inch shell unit, 96-inch shell length, and roughly 127-3/4 inches overall in a 4-pass arrangement. That works out to about 759 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. That combination is cataloged as SU248-4. The build specifies steel bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel tubesheets. Operating limits are 150 PSI on the shell side, 150 PSI on the tube side, and 375°F maximum temperature. Common applications are radiant panel and snow-melt converters, building comfort heating, and instantaneous domestic water heating.
