For steam-to-liquid heating, the SU/WU line offers a removable U-tube bundle design; SU183-4 sits within that range. Steam condenses in the single-pass shell while the heated fluid travels the tubes. Physically, the unit runs a 18-inch shell, 36-inch shell length, and roughly 48-1/2 inches overall in a 4-pass arrangement. That works out to about 148 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. The build specifies cast iron or brass bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and brass tubesheets. Design ratings run to 150 PSI on the shell side, 150 PSI on the tube side, and 375°F maximum temperature. Common applications are instantaneous domestic water heating, swimming pool heating, and radiant panel and snow-melt converters.
