Built around a removable U-tube bundle, this configuration delivers steam-to-liquid heating for demanding service. Steam condenses in the single-pass shell while the heated fluid travels the tubes. The configuration measures 14 inches across the shell, 72-inch shell length, and roughly 80-3/4 inches overall in a 2-pass arrangement. That works out to about 175 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. That combination is cataloged as SU146-2. As furnished, materials include cast iron or brass bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and brass tubesheets. Design ratings run to 150 PSI on the shell side, 150 PSI on the tube side, and 375°F maximum temperature. The series sees regular use in swimming pool heating, radiant panel and snow-melt converters, and instantaneous domestic water heating.
