Steam condenses in the single-pass shell while the heated fluid travels the tubes. Physically, the unit runs a 20-inch shell, 72-inch shell length, and roughly 85-3/4 inches overall in a 4-pass arrangement. That works out to about 377 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. The build specifies cast iron bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and brass tubesheets.
