A removable U-tube bundle gives this configuration the thermal and mechanical margin expected of SU/WU equipment in steam-to-liquid heating. Steam condenses in the single-pass shell while the heated fluid travels the tubes. Dimensionally it is a 6-inch shell unit, 48-inch shell length, and roughly 52-1/8 inches overall in a 6-pass arrangement. That works out to about 13.1 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. That combination is cataloged as 5-260-06-048-003. Standard construction uses cast iron bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel tubesheets. Design ratings run to 150 PSI on the shell side, 150 PSI on the tube side, and 375°F maximum temperature. The series sees regular use in building comfort heating, radiant panel and snow-melt converters, and instantaneous domestic water heating.
