An atmospheric air gap between the inner and outer tube vents any breach to the outside, giving a visible telltale leak instead of silent mixing. Dimensionally it is a 10-inch shell unit, 36-inch shell length in a 6-pass arrangement. It carries 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. The build specifies cast iron bonnets, steel shell, copper (double wall) tubes, and naval brass tubesheets. Operating limits are 150 PSI on the shell side, 125 PSI on the tube side, and 375°F maximum temperature.
