Pumped boiler water circulates through the baffled shell against the tube-side fluid. Physically, the unit runs a 6-inch shell, 60-inch shell length, and roughly 64-1/8 inches overall in a 4-pass arrangement. That works out to about 22.1 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. Standard construction uses cast iron or brass bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel or brass tubesheets. The unit is rated for 150 PSI on the shell side, 150 PSI on the tube side, and 300°F maximum temperature. Common applications are pool and storage-tower heating, condensate cooling, and oil cooling and snow melting.
