Configured for liquid-to-liquid heating and cooling, this configuration carries the removable U-tube bundle construction that defines the SU/WU range. Pumped boiler water circulates through the baffled shell against the tube-side fluid. Its envelope centers on a 30-inch diameter shell, 60-inch shell length, and roughly 102-1/4 inches overall in a 2-pass arrangement. That works out to about 690 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. That combination is cataloged as WU305-2. Standard construction uses cast iron or brass bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel or brass tubesheets. The unit is rated for 150 PSI on the shell side, 150 PSI on the tube side, and 300°F maximum temperature. Common applications are condensate cooling, pool and storage-tower heating, and oil cooling and snow melting.
