This configuration is a SU/WU unit built on a removable U-tube bundle for liquid-to-liquid heating and cooling. Pumped boiler water circulates through the baffled shell against the tube-side fluid. Physically, the unit runs a 26-inch shell, 108-inch shell length, and roughly 153-3/8 inches overall in a 4-pass arrangement. That works out to about 1021 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. Standard construction uses cast iron or brass bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel or brass tubesheets. On the ratings side, expect 150 PSI on the shell side, 150 PSI on the tube side, and 300°F maximum temperature. This build is designated WU269-4. The series sees regular use in hydronic HVAC converters, oil cooling and snow melting, and pool and storage-tower heating.
