Note: Unit pictured is representative of standard unit and may not exactly depict p/n WU249-2 as shown on this page.
A removable U-tube bundle gives this configuration the thermal and mechanical margin expected of SU/WU equipment in liquid-to-liquid heating and cooling. Pumped boiler water circulates through the baffled shell against the tube-side fluid. Dimensionally it is a 24-inch shell unit, 108-inch shell length, and roughly 150-3/4 inches overall in a 2-pass arrangement. That works out to about 873 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. Standard construction uses cast iron or brass bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel or brass tubesheets. Design ratings run to 150 PSI on the shell side, 150 PSI on the tube side, and 300°F maximum temperature. Common applications are pool and storage-tower heating, oil cooling and snow melting, and hydronic HVAC converters. This build is designated WU249-2.
