Configured for liquid-to-liquid heating and cooling, this configuration carries the removable U-tube bundle construction that defines the SU/WU range. Pumped boiler water circulates through the baffled shell against the tube-side fluid. The configuration measures 12 inches across the shell, 72-inch shell length, and roughly 80-1/2 inches overall in a 2-pass arrangement. That works out to about 126 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. As furnished, materials include cast iron bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and brass tubesheets. Design ratings run to 150 PSI on the shell side, 125 PSI on the tube side, and 300°F maximum temperature. Installations range across pool and storage-tower heating, oil cooling and snow melting, and condensate cooling. This build is designated 5-266-12-072-001.
