Configured for liquid-to-liquid heating and cooling, this configuration carries the removable U-tube bundle construction that defines the SU/WU range. Pumped boiler water circulates through the baffled shell against the tube-side fluid. Physically, the unit runs a 6-inch shell, 36-inch shell length, and roughly 40-1/8 inches overall in a 4-pass arrangement. That works out to about 12.7 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. Standard construction uses cast iron bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and brass tubesheets. The unit is rated for 150 PSI on the shell side, 150 PSI on the tube side, and 300°F maximum temperature. The series sees regular use in oil cooling and snow melting, pool and storage-tower heating, and hydronic HVAC converters. This build is designated 5-266-06-036-002.
