This configuration is a Diamondback DSU/DWU unit built on a double-wall U-tube bundle for liquid-to-liquid transfer with cross-contamination protection. Each tube is vented to atmosphere through a diamond-pattern air gap, so a failure in either wall reports itself outside the unit. Physically, the unit runs a 12-inch shell, 96-inch shell length in a 4-pass arrangement. It carries 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. As furnished, materials include cast iron bonnets, steel shell, copper (double wall) tubes, and naval brass tubesheets. Design ratings run to 150 PSI on the shell side, 125 PSI on the tube side, and 375°F maximum temperature. Common applications are domestic water systems under double-wall codes, potable water heating and cooling, and process cooling where mixing cannot be tolerated.
