Built around a double-wall U-tube bundle, this configuration delivers liquid-to-liquid transfer with cross-contamination protection for demanding service. Each tube is vented to atmosphere through a diamond-pattern air gap, so a failure in either wall reports itself outside the unit. Dimensionally it is a 10-inch shell unit, 84-inch shell length in a 4-pass arrangement. It carries 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. As furnished, materials include cast iron bonnets, steel shell, copper (double wall) tubes, and naval brass tubesheets. The unit is rated for 150 PSI on the shell side, 125 PSI on the tube side, and 375°F maximum temperature. Typical duty includes process cooling where mixing cannot be tolerated, potable water heating and cooling, and domestic water systems under double-wall codes.
