This configuration is a CHXS compact unit built on a fixed-tubesheet bundle for compact liquid cooling in corrosive service. It shares the compact CHX envelope while targeting service that would attack a standard cooler. The configuration measures 5 inches across the shell, 24-inch shell length, and roughly 28-3/8 inches overall in a 4-pass arrangement. That works out to about 16 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. Material selection covers cast iron bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and brass tubesheets. On the ratings side, expect 300 PSI on the shell side, 150 PSI on the tube side, and 300°F maximum temperature. This build is designated CHXS524-4S. Common applications are mechanical seal cooling, deionized and treated water cooling, and chemical and food process cooling.
