Physically, the unit runs a 3-inch shell, 8-inch shell length, and roughly 11-1/4 inches overall in a 1-pass arrangement. That works out to about 2.4 square feet of heat transfer surface on 5/8-inch O.D. tubes. That combination is cataloged as CHX308-1L. As furnished, materials include cast iron bonnets, brass shell, copper tubes, and brass tubesheets. Operating limits are 300 PSI on the shell side, 150 PSI on the tube side, and 300°F maximum temperature. The series sees regular use in mechanical seal cooling, engine jacket water cooling, and hydraulic and lube oil cooling.
