A removable straight-tube bundle gives this configuration the thermal and mechanical margin expected of ACA aftercooler equipment in compressed air aftercooling. Hot compressed air enters the tubes while cooling water counterflows through the shell, condensing moisture for removal downstream. Its envelope centers on a 8-inch diameter shell, 72-inch shell length in a 1-pass arrangement. It carries 1/4-inch O.D. tubes. Material selection covers cast iron bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel tubesheets. Design ratings run to 300°F maximum temperature. This build is designated ACA86-134. Common applications are pneumatic tool and instrument air conditioning, moisture and oil removal from plant air, and compressor discharge aftercooling. A floating rear tubesheet lets the bundle expand freely and pull for cleaning, and full-size air connections hold pressure drop down.
